Our Experiments (are working!)

What does it mean that with every breath we exhale bits of ourselves and inhale bits of each other?  What does it mean that I have molecules in my body that were once you?  Does this mean that I am you and you are me and we are all together?

Well, as a matter of fact it does, at least biologically.

Just because our present mindset doesn’t accept this as true, doesn’t mean it isn’t!

I wonder, is it true as it so often seems, that we live in an individualistic Darwinian world where we are pitted against each other and only the strong survive?  A world where women are attracted to the supermen, and the men want  superwomen and only the winners get what they want?

Is individual dog eating individual dog the true state of our human situation?

I say No.  What if competition is just an evolutionary game we play?  It seems that way to me.  Obviously, competition is here to make us better- but not some of us- all of us! It’s job is to strengthen all of our genes.  How do we strengthen ourselves by pitting ourselves against ourselves?  Do you punch yourself in the face when you want to do better?  No!

Competition does not mean that warfare and dominance are our lot- all it means is that our evolution is demanded and hard wired!

This year has taught me so much about evolution.  It has taught me that one can evolve one’s concepts of reality.  What a great thing!  On that note I want to share with you what I learned this weekend-

I just got back from four days at the Wanderlust Yoga and Music festival!!  My god, for a secular man, it felt so good to be in a community where everyone was open and seeking the infinite.  Now, I understand church and religion-  My Goodness, how nice is it to feel safe to experience your soul, and another’s soul- out there in the open!!!

This is the jewel I learned over the weekend-

“Courage is relaxation in action”- Hari

Hari said those words to me and then when I repeated them back to her later, she did not remember saying them!

As I considered the idea, I came to the conclusion that this is all you need to be happy, and live a great life!  If one can find the place within that is relaxed, connected to everything, and if one has the courage to stay there and act from that place… well, one has arrived!

How close are you?

Our experimentation leading up to the Kripalu workshop is yielding something truly wonderful!  Hari was so amazing at Wanderlust and so was Itaal- this thing we are doing is working…  I am so looking forward to Kripalu.  We are going to rock people’s worlds, we are going to give them what took me a year to accomplish in one weekend… at least I hope this happens!

Here is a little teaser I put together from my documentation of the last year studying with Hari-

this is so awesome! i am a video artist and hari is also my teacher. so, to see this kind of aesthetic with the exploration of such a question as this is thrilling and essential. what if we can’t live with this world we’ve created? … indeed… this is the line between fighting against, and totaly acceptance of what is. once we know what we know, there is no turning back to the garden of ignorance.
    sat nam friends.

There is no turning back! How true!

Actually, we can not live with some of what we have created for sure, hence the need to explore new ways!!!
